IRNA - Hojatollah Khatib was picked up as
the new managing director of Persepolis Cultural-Sports Club here Sunday.
Khatib, who has been the director general of Tehran`s Physical Education
Department for over 20 years was unanimously elected by the club`s board of
directors to take the helm for the next two years.
Ebrahim Ashtiani, former national footballer and a directorate member, told
IRNA a few had announced their candidacy for the post but the board
introduced Khatib after long discussion.
Mohammad Zadmehr, also a board member, told IRNA that Khatib was elected
thanks to his good performance and bright career.
He added Khatib will be officially introduced in Football Federation Monday.
Khatib took over from Akbar Ghamkhar, who was widely criticized for a
lackluster season.
Persepolis finished fourth in the third Iran Pro League on 39 points. Pas
celebrated the IPL title on 53 points.
